Jamie Lynn Spears’ recent announcement that she is three months pregnant at the age of sixteen may hobble her in the race for the same lofty pinnacle from which her older sister, Britney, has fallen so spectacularly. Until the announcement of the impending Blessed Event, Jamie Lynn seemed to represent the Spears family’s chance of redemption from all the mud slung at them by the media because of Britney’s public melt-down.

Jamie Lynn was raised around showbiz because of Britney’s runaway success in the entertainment industry. Although she was born in Mc Comb, Mississippi, much of Jamie Lynn’s young life was spent in New York where Britney’s Parents were promoting their elder daughter’s talents. Whether by Nature or by Nurture, Jamie Lynn soon showed enough promise that she was being offered commercials and television parts.

After a successful run in the Nickelodeon series, “All That”, Jamie Lynn moved on to even greater popularity with newly pubescent youngsters, in the series “Zoey 101″. With a successful Pepsi commercial under her belt, the movie, “Crossroads,” well received, and Two Nickelodeon “Kids’ Choice Awards,” to her name, she seemed fairly unassailable in her exalted position of popularity. However her pregnancy at such a young age has already tarnished her star, as nervous promoters pine for the return of their squeaky clean, wholesome tween idol. No promoter would knowingly sponsor a carbon copy of Britney, whose self destruction has been almost as spectacular to watch as Michael Jackson’s has.

Will she follow up her 2007 album with a sweet mix of tunes for the Pampers crowd? All eyes will follow her relentlessly in 2008 as she attempts to combine a promising show-biz career with the challenges of becoming a mother while not yet an adult, herself.
